Hello! Thank you very much for your letter! I received it on May 3rd, I am replying on May 6th. And in addition, congratulations on all the May holidays and Easter! (if you celebrate).

I would like to inform you that I am not against my letters being published on the website if someone considers it necessary. In general, any human rights initiatives of this kind are great! So, thank you very much for your activism.

Overall I’m fine. Nothing truly interesting happens. On weekends, life in SIZO (pre-trial detention center) seems to come to a standstill — letters are almost never delivered, because the censor is not working, purchases from the store are not brought, etc. It’s too chilly in Moscow for the beginning of May. For a couple of days, it was only +5 — +8 °C. But I’m a northern person and I’m glad that it’s not hot. It’s much worse in the heat.

There’s not much to tell. I mostly answer letters and read. I recently started reading a book by A.I. Denikin — part of his «Essays on Russian Service» about the campaign of white troops against Moscow in 1919. Interesting, but sad. Before that, I read Pelevin’s «T», a rather dull novel which I had never even heard of before. Not so good, although I like Pelevin. Before that, I read the memoirs of the Soviet dissident V. Bukovsky «And the Wind Returns...» and «Letters of a Russian Traveler.» Not the easiest reading, but very interesting. And what is called the «foundation.» A lot of, if not all that he writes, is still incredibly relevant. If you have the time or desire, I recommend it.

Thanks again for your letter! I hope your May holidays go well! Hello to Charles! =) Vasya N. SIZO-7, MSK
