Hi) Thank you, happy holidays to you too) Although today is no longer a holiday, but on the contrary — a mourning day. On January 19, 2010, on Prichestenka st. [Prechistenka st, Moscow] right next to Kropotkinskaya metro station and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, B.O.R.N. militant N. Tikhonov killed two of my friends, Nastya Baburova and Stas Markelov. Nastya was a journalist and an anarchist, we often crossed paths at common events and meetings. She was there by chance, she just wanted to talk to Stas, who was the one who was attacked. Tikhonov shot Stas, and Nastya, instead of fear or frustration, rushed at Tikhonov, tried to take the gun away, to do something. And he shot her.
On the first anniversary of their death, we marched through the entire center and even fought with the OMON [riot police]. When at Chistye Prudy instead of holding a rally, they told us to go down to the metro and go home. But we were outraged that for a whole year they hadn’t even tried to find the killer, who, not only hadn’t been hiding very well, but had been bugged the entire time. They could have prevented this murder, but they didn’t. On the second anniversary, we held a completely unsanctioned march on Tretyakovskaya with shop windows being smashed, flares, and banners saying «prisoners without conscience — your place is by the latrine» and "don’t divide victims or killers into black and white. «I remember when I was drawing this banner, my mother caught me, rolled her eyes and said: «I don’t even want to know why you need this.».
I forgot to say, although you probably know, Stas was a lawyer and an anti-fascist. He once said that nothing can protect us anymore, neither God, nor the Tsar, nor the law. Only ourselves. I miss them very much. I can’t write about this without tears, although it feels like all this happened two lives ago. After the army, when I moved to Penza, I stopped going to marches, but every year on January 19 I would definitely come to Prichestenka st. to lay flowers and remind myself of who I am and why I’m here.
As for the New Year, there was absolutely nothing))) We went to bed at 22:00, woke up at 6:00 and went to exercise) For dinner there was stinking cabbage, for breakfast stinking barley porridge with stones and insects) I’m glad that it went better for you))
Hugs. Dima. 19/01/2025
